It’s 5:25 pm. There is a torrential downpour outside my window. I’m supposed to be in Philippe Park ready to take engagement photos for Gabbi and Lucio in an hour. At best, I was hoping for an overcast day at this point. About two weeks prior we had already traveled to Simpson Lakes in Dade City, the site of their future wedding, to take engagement photos. But rain canceled us there. So the thought of two consecutive misses would’ve stung.
But about 30 minutes before the session, not only did the rain stop, but the clouds parted for the first time all day to let in beautiful light. The kind of light you would draw up if you could imagine the perfect golden hour. And, truthfully, the kind of light you need at Philippe Park to maximize the scenery.
Gabbi and Lucio came prepped with two neutral-colored outfits that complemented each other well and let them pop from the green background. Right before we started, Gabbi warned me that I’d need to walk them through all the poses because they had no idea what to do and worried they’d look a little awkward. It’s time for a secret: That’s one of my favorite things I love to hear. That means that a couple is completely underestimating themselves. Of course, I’m going to help them from beginning to end, but my couples do the heavy lifting and before they know it, they’re absolute pros!
Cheers to Gabbi and Lucio, who bested the weather and came away with my favorite engagement photos at Philippe Park!

"We can't say enough WONDERFUL things about our experience with Eddy—"
—the attention to detail, ease of working together, his fun personality and his dedication to his work are top notch. Simply capturing the people that were there was one thing, but Eddy captured the emotions and the story behind the entire day and for that we will be forever grateful.
