Not often do I need to get entrance clearance to take pictures for a couple but earlier this May I found myself showing ID to a military officer to enter the MacDill Air Force base. It was a self-reflection moment about how cool it is that I get to visit a lot of different places to 1) make memories for my clients and 2) get challenged with finding the best spots somewhere I’ve never been before.
Katie Rose Hargreaves and Eric Frutchey are two love birds who are planning a life together as soon as Eric retires from a decorated 30-year career in the military later this year. In full uniform, Eric proposed to Katie Rose, a warm, effusive classic Southern gal who had flown in from Kansas days prior. I had told them that you could not have scripted the weather any better. It was a clear sky in the mid 70s with absolutely perfect light just past the 7pm hour. Eric presented Katie Rose with magnolias, her favorite flower, before dropping down on one knee and proposing. Her four-legged pup Pearl Rose (I love that she added the ‘Rose’ there haha!), adorned with a wreath, watched on as Eric proposed to her mom and accepted!
Also, it was really nice to capture a proposal on a pier given my background! I proposed to my wife in 2013 on Pier 7 in San Francisco. Katie Rose’s face, when she made the connection to my business name, was priceless.
