There’s something extra special about photographing friends. I can’t quite place it, but there’s a little extra enjoyment and yes, a little extra pressure! Danny and Devon were a couple friend that I met through my wife, and one of the first friends we made in Tampa when we moved here in 2017. From barbecues and a Super Bowl at their place to celebrating Gasparilla, it’s always been a blast together.
So of course I was honored when they asked me to photograph their engagement session and on Devon’s birthday to boot! I know Danny is a jokester so he was going to have a blast getting smiles from Devon all evening long and boy did they deliver. Everything was so easy with them and they were game for everything. And I love that they brought a champagne bottle (the good stuff, too!) to pop and celebrate at the end of the session. When a couple has some props to incorporate, it elevates the shoot that much more.
I’ve had a chance to photograph engagement and family sessions at Plant Plark/University of Tampa and I will never get tired of it. The variety of scenery within walking distance is nearly unmatched anywhere else in Tampa. You have the river, the cityscape backdrop, the unique architecture of the Henry B. Plant Museum and some hidden areas of University of Tampa. And the best part? You’re already dressed up and within walking distance for a dinner date right after.
