Few feelings are better for a photographer than when you vibe with a couple. And when you have a similar sense of humor? Forget about it. I met Tori and Isaiah earlier in 2021 when they were part of family photos. To this day I don’t think I’ve laughed more with a family, their humor challenged my ability to keep the camera steady as I laughed so much behind it.
Tori and Isaiah live in Texas, but when they decided they would marry in St.Pete, they reached out, we chatted about working together and it clicked. Fast forward to November when they were in town for the Thanksgiving and we met at Edward Medard Conservation Park in Plant City for their engagement session. It’s a park Tori and her family used to visit when they were much younger, so it was cool they had a personal connection to it.
This was my first time in this park and it was jaw-drop gorgeous. It’s iconic for its trees with gnarled roots jutting from the ground. The land used to be a phosphate mine about 60 years ago, which accounts for the hills. After the land was donated, the trees were revegetated but over time the ground eroded leaving the roots. The park also has a giant open field for wide shots and a field of tall grass that shines beautifully during sunset. Talk about checking off several boxes!
The different locations allowed Tori and Isaiah to go for a wardrobe change and give a new feel to each spot. They nailed every prompt I threw at them and even in between were joking quietly with each other, leading to some real emotion. All in all, this was a wonderful experience that resulted in some great photos. I’ll see you two again in February!
