One of the cool things about Tampa is that there are so many different vibes available for engagement photos. Early on in the planning process, I ask my couples if they want more greenery, beach or urban feel. For their shoot, Jess wanted something that resembled their wedding venue: a rustic, woodlands feel. She suggested Lettuce Lake Park, with all its lush greenery, roads covered in arches of trees and its boardwalk tucked away in nature. For anyone considering Lettuce Lake — do it! If you time it right (don’t wait for sunset hour, go about 45 minutes prior because of all the coverage), you get beautiful light streaming through the trees at just the right angle.
Right before we started, Jess and Taylor revealed that they had never done professional photos together and were worried they were going to come out a little awkward. I kid you not, that’s one of my favorite things to hear before a shoot because it’s a fun challenge for me to prove them wrong. Suffice to say they were absolute naturals. By the end of the shoot Jess was even giving the camera model faces, so I know she was into it!
