An engagement shoot goes way beyond being a day of beautiful pictures. It’s often the first time I meet a couple before their wedding. It’s a chance for me to understand how they play off each other in pictures, what works and doesn’t work and how to coax the best moments out of them.
Often times I use silly prompts to get some genuine smiles out of my couples. Recently I got that chance to have some fun with Bria and Kelvin! They were such a laid back couple, game for all of my prompts.
Kelvin loves the city so they wanted to showcase that. Then Bria offered up the Riverwalk as an idea. Our backdrop was ultimately the beautiful Curtis Hixon Park, one of Tampa’s best attractions and one of the most varied shoot locations all within walking distance from each other. Fountains, cityscape, an open theater area, the bay, it’s all there.
We were scheduled to meet at 7pm but suddenly it started pouring. Thankfully it was just a 10-minute shower that I decided was used to clear out the park just for Bria and Kelvin!
I’m excited to return to this blog in just a few months to showcase their wedding photos

—the attention to detail, ease of working together, his fun personality and his dedication to his work are top notch. Simply capturing the people that were there was one thing, but Eddy captured the emotions and the story behind the entire day and for that we will be forever grateful.
